Stargazing

You were like Ulysses on the midnight piers
It was a seduction you couldn't refuse that you feared
There you go again—stargazing into the end
They said salvation was coming but it was only us
Salvator mundi, salva nos, I waited in the rivers of a luminous dusk
Like starving saints lusting after desire I lived in that divine wild and bore witness to desire’s wilderness
Desire said: you will feast and feast and still become a starving creature, again
Trapped inside that strangling vastness I bloomed in the midnights like night jessamine dreaming of ascension and yes I am becoming fire again
This was the tragedy La Divina Commedia
we were soulmates but you were never here with me
Now here I am again on the void of a midnight pier stargazing into the end
The eternal return, this recurring universe
Madonna the governess of floods abandoned us in the devastations of a luminous dusk
Seasons of starvation in the wilderness
I witnessed the starving saints surviving their miracle creations
Now we are here on the pier of midnight stargazing into the end again
