First Light

In the beginning
God made the fragile oblivions
I was burning with sunrise
Yes the winds were singing
Desire burning this wasteland in me
Besides this wind is how I die
Running through moonlit hills of vanishing twilight
I was the stars afterbirth
I was the darkness rehearsed
God hovering over the waters
Desire burning a wasteland in me
Falling for the midnights
Desire burned like devastation in me
Desire burned like wreckage in me
Alchemist of sunlight you watched me rise
God hovering over the waters
Burning with 2 am sunrises
There was darkness over the face of the deep—
I remembered your eyes like blue heaven and the darkness was breached—
To survive impossible disquiets in the midnights I crossed those fields of obsidian
One last act of selfishness
One last act of decadence
Desire the dynamite in the night
Resurrecting every sunrise
Besides this wind is how I die
I vanished like disappearing twilight
I vanished into that vast wilderness
