The Contagion, Carnage

Who am I to bear alone the scars of this fragile darkness
I hear the footsteps of gods echoing in the carnage Goliath earth in wild ruins
by dayspring all the seraphs are marred carcasses ecstasy is this brief paradise of desire
to survive alienation I wandered through wilderness with the choirs of winds
cast in the carousel of fire among the sacrificed lambs I am darkness again

in the beginning was the wonder you utter me into this miracle of Being
this prodigal grace of anguish the flesh is fire I am that wild divine darkness
the heads of the hydra setting fires across the blazing Earth
in god’s bounty of spring go forth and multiply desire
post tenebras lux I stood in the rivers of a luminous dusk
rest in the temples of ashtrees where the darkness of mankind has its brief victories

starlings murmuring in dayspring, metamorphosis into pillars of salt for desire
magdalene and the beggars from the abyss of nazareth singing the last psalms
baptized by fire like the disciples I am that wild divine darkness rising
dayspring you ravish me with visions of blessedness
in the ruins of babylon, the great architect abdicates —

this is the promised dark paradise in your gaze, before those eyes of black fire, I suffocate
in the beginning was the world and the world was with god and the world was god
